Evaluation

How have you appealed to your target audience?
My target audience was a mixed group aged fifteen to eighteen years. I feel I have appealed to them as my project was music based; as it was about a (not very good) school band. This might not appeal to all in my projected target audience as; it is very likely, that not all of them will be interested in music. Another way I have hoped to appeal to my target audience is through a slight use of humour (i.e. the year 7 anecdote); it may be lost on some but the band is deliberately portrayed as bad, for effect.

What technical skills have you developed during this process?
During the production of this project I have picked up a few important skills. I have learned many important camera skills; for example, the use of different angles in shots. Although I used a camera in the past, I had not thought about the importance of interesting cinematography.
Although I have used Windows Movie Maker; I had not previously used iMovie software so I had to learn to use this also; including how to import footage, and cut unwanted parts.

How have you represented social groups and places?
I feel I have represented the ‘school rock band’ group with a degree of satire, but without being insulting. My characters were to act like clichéd rockers and were filmed to look idealistic, but hopeless, rather that completely stupid. All of the action took place around the Guilsborough School music department , but this was only represented as a place which promotes young musicians.
